Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few quick answers to some common questions. For more information please contact us
Q: How do I get an estimate and are they
free?
A: Just send us an email call us, or visit our showroom. We
will come to your home and provide you with the information you
need. Our estimates are always free of charge.
Q: Do your windows qualify for the
current Energy Tax credit available from the government?
A: Yes, just let us know that you are interested in the tax credit
and we will bid you accordingly.
Q: Why do some people tell me vinyl is
best and others say steel or aluminum are better?
A: Most companies only sell one kind of siding. They usually
tell you that that kind of siding is best. At Western we have
them all. We will tell you the relative strengths of each and
tell you the cost of all. This way you can make up your own
mind without relying on a sometimes biased opinion.
Q: Will windows and siding reduce my
heating and cooling costs?
A: Yes. How much is not an easy answer. The efficiency
of your existing windows and siding, the average temperature for a
particular year, and various other factor affect your heating and
cooling costs, so a set percentage is impossible to calculate. Some companies
will guaranty a dollar amount or a percentage savings. Don't
be fooled this is a well known pitch and the cost of the gimmick is
in the price you pay.
Q: I see one national company offering
sales all the time, do you ever have a sale?
A: Yes occasionally we have a sale, but unlike most of our industry
when we have a sale, we offer real savings. When there is no
published price (like a menu item at a restaurant) the person doing
the estimating can tell you any price they want to upfront and then
tell you they are having a sale and knock the price down to show you
your "savings". The scam is that the "sale" price was the real
price all along. The sale is another trick to make you think
you are getting a better deal than you really are. In most
cases our original price is cheaper or about the same as our
competitors "sale price".
Q: Do I have to replace all of my
windows at the same time?
A: No. We can do one window, a room, a side, or the whole
house. The price you pay per window is the same regardless.
Q: How about siding, I may not be able
to afford to do the whole job, what then?
A: Siding is a little more difficult to break up than windows.
Doing one side at a time is not always a good idea. There are
however natural breaks that allow you to split up the cost.
Eaves and overhangs, trim around doors and windows, patio ceilings,
beams and posts are all independent of the siding itself. We
can work within your budget to make your home improvement dollar go as far as possible.
